Nana’s Song

Spent a lifetime learning wisdom and the ways
Of life and living
And sweetly flowed the days
The people and the places
In my memory so dear
The lessons of a lifetime
All are with me here
And all I want to do
Is pass them on to you
To give my thanks
And go my way

Its not as if I never laughed child
Questing ever for the stone
Its not as if I never cried child
Or never was alone
Its not as if I never wandered
Not as if I could not fall
But never did I surrender
Nor ever fail to heed the call

Its not as if I do not know you
Or was never as you are
I’ve not been always as you see me
And not alone I came this far
Its not as if I will not miss you
God knows my love runs deep
But neither do I tremble
For I am ever in his keep
